Yes - the Hochzeiger really does show off the chocolate side of some high peaks. Most of them belong to the Ötztal Alps, but many also belong to the mountain groups on the other side of the Inn Valley. In a nutshell: the climb is worth it for the view.
From Jerzens at the entrance to the Pitztal valley, the Hochzeigerbahn gondolas take you up to panoramic heights above the Pitz and Inn valleys. From the mountain station, a panoramic loop awaits, which culminates at the summit of the Hochzeiger and requires a certain degree of surefootedness and mountain experience. During the hike, you have wonderful views of the various mountain ridges of the Ötztal Alps and far beyond the Inn Valley. The Kalbenalm is a charming place to stop for refreshments and there are lovely places to take a break along the way, for example at the landscaped pond.
From the starting point, the trail leads right to the Zollberg and then left on the Ferdinand-Wohlfarter-Steig up to the Hochzeiger (2,560 m). The route then follows a beautiful panoramic trail to the Sechszeiger (2,360 m). From there, turn left down to the Kalbenalm and back to the middle station.
Take the bus to the bus stop Jerzens Hochzeiger. Then take the gondola (section I) to get to the starting point.
Parking is available at the valley station of the Hochzeiger cable cars.
