The Luibis meadows in the Pitztal Valley are a wonderful place for daydreamers. If you close your eyes, there’s absolute silence up here. When you open your eyes, you look out over beautiful alpine meadows and a small lake toward the sky-high Kaunergrat with the towering Rofelewand—it’s breathtakingly beautiful.
An easy but quite steep hike to the beautiful alpine meadow of the Luibisalm. Its unstaffed alpine huts and the Kaunergrat in the background are one of the most beautiful sights in the Pitztal. There are no places to stop for refreshments along the way, which is why it’s not very heavily trafficked. It’s especially beautiful in the fall when the first section leads through a golden larch forest. The hike can also be extended to the Grabkogel and Moalandlsee or to the moderately difficult 3,000-meter peak, the Luibiskogel.
From the starting point, a road leads to the left toward the transmission tower. Follow this road briefly until you reach the right-hand turnoff onto the trail toward Luibisalm. Hike up the trail to Luibisalm (unmanned). This alpine pasture is a quiet, scenic destination high above the valley floor, facing the steeply rising Rofelewand (3,354 m). Continue past a hunting lodge to the Luibisböden. Return via the same route.
