Welcome to Route 5 of the Ötztal Trek with its three challenging mountaineering stages. From the Braunschweiger Hütte we set off directly into the high alpine. Today we "dust off" three three-thousand-meter peaks on the Mainzer Höhenweg: Wurmsitzkogel (3,079 m), Grschrappkogel (3,197 m) and Wassertalkogel (3,252 m). After 10 hours of walking, we look forward to the cozy Rüsselsheimer Hütte.
Difficult, demanding and long stage on black mountain paths. Sure-footedness and high alpine experience for demanding, partly pathless terrain is required. Glacier and climbing experience and a very good level of fitness are required.
Extremely long tour, multiple glacier crossings (crevasses), secured passages; stable weather conditions especially important; mountain guide recommended
Appropriate equipment such as breathable suitable outdoor clothes for the weather, is for all hikes and tours necessary. Please bring a first-aid box, a mobile phone, a walking map and if there is no hut on the way a snack and enough to drink.Ice axe, crampons, rope | Mountain guide recommended.
