Asphalt, forest road, hiking trail
From the parking lot at the information point (near Gasthof Mairwirt), turn right and head down through the Mühlau district to the Kohlenbach stream. From here, continue to the hilltop, where you should keep to the right, as indicated by the signs. Follow the road for about 350 m, then turn left onto the forest road. Pass through the forest and across meadows to the fork in the road at the Unterbichlalm. Follow the left path up past the Boaralm. Shortly past the alpine pasture, leave the road and turn first left, then right after about 50 m. Cross an alpine meadow to reach the ruined Kogelalm. From here, the trail climbs steeply uphill to the summit of the Scheibenkogel, which turns out to be a quiet, picturesque vantage point offering views of the Ostkaiser, the Zahmer Kaiser, and even the Großglockner Group.
