The Hohe Salve mountain (1,829 metres) offers fabulous views of the Wilder Kaiser Mountains, the Inn Valley and the Zillertal Alps – an absolute must for visitors to the region and easily accessible using the local cable car. On hot days there is no better place to cool off than the Hundalm, a complex of underground caves with stalactites and stalagmites where the temperature remains a chilly 0°c all year round. Back above ground, pay a visit to the Mariastein Chapel perched atop a rocky outcrop. Last but certainly not least, check out the Almkäserei Niederkaser in Kelchsau, a mountain dairy and cheesemaker which has been producing tangy local cheese for several generations.
