Lush green meadows, crystal clear mountain lakes and a medieval fortress – the family-friendly Kufstein region has many different sides just waiting to be discovered on holiday.
For visitors arriving from Germany, the journey to Kufstein really couldn't be easier. This region is located right on the border between Austria and its larger neighbour. One of the first things they will see as they arrive is the 800-year-old Kufstein Castle, the region's most recognisable landmark and a popular for a family day out, not least thanks to the special guided tours for children which are offered through the fortress. If you would rather head out into the mountains, the region around Kufstein has plenty of options for family-friendly hikes such as the walk up to the Brentenjochalm hut. On hot summer days we recommend a visit to one of the open-air pools and swimming lakes in the region. Among the most beautiful are the Hechtsee lake in the Brandenberger Alps, the "Hallo du" outdoor leisure park in Ebbs and the family swimming pools in Kufstein and Erl. Horse lovers definitely should not miss out on a visit to one of the spectacular Haflinger shows at the Fohlenhof Ebbs stables, while the region's rare animals zoo gives visitors the chance to observe monkeys at close quarters.
