Our overview of the unique and charming Fraueninsel in Lake Chiemsee with its famous Benedictine convent Frauenwörth.
Fraueninsel is a neighbouring island to Herreninsel in Lake Chiemsee, but is very different from the royal island flair of Herreninsel.
In addition to traditional potteries, fishing businesses and the Benedictine convent, there are the picturesque and well-kept houses and gardens of the islanders, the inns and beer gardens, the old stock of trees with two lime trees over 1000 years old (Marien- and Tassilolinde) and the independent village life.
