Scharnitzer Alm
Karwendelgebirge
6108 Scharnitz
+43 664 523 45 67
Lovingly maintained alpine farm with a lot of history and passion.
The small Scharnitzer Alm seems as if time has simply stood still at 995 metres above sea level. In addition to peace and quiet, hikers and bikers will also find a genuine Tyrolean alpine farm. Christine, the mountain farmer, and Roland, the shepherd, still run the rustic mountain hut just as they did back then - by the way, you can read about the history of the tradition in the blog.
STARTING POINT
If you come by car, you can leave your vehicle at the Karwendel car park (Länd car park) in Scharnitz and visit the Holzerhütte museum - with fascinating background information about the Alpine region, its alpine farming and the lush biodiversity in the extensive Karwendel forests. An environmentally conscious alternative is to take the train directly to Scharnitz, from where you can reach the Holzerhütte Museum on foot in about ten minutes.
