4005 Rund um den Zwölferkopf
This tour starts from the Karwendel cable car. Follow the forest trail which runs a few metres above the lake in the direction of Perchertal. From here, climb the wide forest trail by way of five switchbacks until you are below the mountain station. This section is an easy ride which leads mostly over open meadows while affording beautiful views of the lake. At the end of the trail, walk your bike downhill until you arrive at the Bärenbadalm mountain hut (serviced). Continue along the forest road as it travels over meadows through the Hörndlgraben before it descends through the forest to the Tristenau valley and via the valley floor back to the starting point. This circular tour is signposted in both directions and can be travelled in the opposite direction if preferred.
TIP: You can reach the halfway point of the new forest road by walking your bike to route 467 in the direction of the car park Hubertus.
