Description

On this tour, you cycle with a child trailer along the Leutascher Ache river into Pasture Paradise Gaistal Valley – with several places to stop for refreshments and spots along the river for children to play in the water. The route follows wide paths throughout and includes a moderate incline.

Two experience stops along the route:

  • Salzbach Kneipp facility and water play area (at the start) – located directly at Salzbach parking area, ideal for playing in the water and cooling off before or after the tour.
  • Leutascher Ache river – several points along the route offer direct access to the river, perfect for playing in the water, skipping stones, and taking a break.
You start at the Öfen parking area and initially follow an asphalt road towards Gaistal until you reach the Salzbach parking area. If you prefer a shorter version, you can also start the tour directly here – at Salzbach parking area you’ll find the Salzbach Kneipp facility, which are perfect for cooling off and playing in the water before or after the tour.

Shortly after, the gravel pathinto Gaistal begins; follow the signs for bike route No. 551 towards Seebensee. On this wide gravel path, you continue with a gentle, steady climb along the Leutascher Ache until you reach the junction for Gaistalalm – your first refreshment stop.

From there, the route continues along the river to the turn-off for Tillfussalm, your second opportunity for a break.

The final 500 meters to Tillfussalm must be covered on foot (please respect the alpine animals). Your child should get out of the trailer for this section.

The return follows the same route downhill back to the Öfen parking area. The entire trail runs alongside the Leutascher Ache, with multiple access points to the river for water play and relaxing stops.

Additional alternative: Hämmermoosalm (bike route No. 5047)
If you’d like to add another stop, you can follow the signs towards Hämmermoosalm either at the beginning or end of the tour: continue along the gravel road to the second junction, then turn right (the Ganghoferweg itself is closed to cyclists). After a short, steeper climb, you reach Hämmermoosalm after approx. 1.2 km, featuring a sunny terrace and views of the Mieming Range and Wetterstein Mountains. This section is also popular with hikers, so expect pedestrian traffic and adjust your speed accordingly. Return via the same route. (Additional approx. 2.4 km and 110 vertical meters.)
