Description

A cycling route through the Leutasch Valley following the Leutascher Ache, with five experience stops along the way – from a Kneipp facility at the start to an adventure playground. The route is perfectly suited for bike trailers thanks to its easy, comfortable terrain and multiple access points, allowing flexible entry and exit anywhere along the way. There is also a refreshment stop with its own playground.

Five experience stops along the route:

  • Salzbach Kneipp facility and water play area (start) – located directly at Salzbach parking area; water play is possible right at the beginning.
  • Multiple direct river access points along the Leutascher Ache for water play.
  • Ache adventure playground (Unterweidach) – featuring a large pirate climbing ship, crawl tunnel, two wooden climbing towers connected by a rope net, a shaded sand play area with sun sails, sand digger, wobble bridge, and basket swing.
  • Flämenwandl climbing area – a place to watch climbers in action (no climbing activity for guests).
  • Leutasch Spirit Gorge (Geisterklamm) – a family-friendly themed walk across secured metal walkways through the gorge with interactive stations and impressive views of water and depth.

The tour follows bike route No. 537 “Through the Leutasch Valley” and starts at Salzbach parking area (P3–P5), which offers public toilets and is located directly next to the Salzbach Kneipp facility. The route runs on asphalt roads and gravel paths along the Achweg beside the Leutascher Ache river, with several opportunities for direct river access.

In Unterweidach, the Ache adventure playground is located directly along the route. Shortly after, you pass the Flämenwandl climbing area (for viewing only, no climbing for guests).

The route continues to Gasthaus Brücke – the main refreshment stop of the tour, which also features its own playground. From there, the trail follows the Achweg further to the entrance of the Leutasch Spirit Gorge. Those who wish can explore the gorge: this themed walk leads through a dramatic canyon on secured walkways with interactive stations and spectacular views into the gorge and down to the water below.

The return follows the same route back to Salzbach parking area. The outward journey is mostly downhill with only a short ascent, while the return is steadily uphill – requiring more effort when using a bike trailer. However, the route can be shortened at multiple points thanks to its flexible access options along the way.
