Challenging day tour in the middle of the Stubai mountains to the 3054m high Wetterspitze near the Bremerhütte. Impressive views of the Feuerstein, Wilder Freiger and Zuckerhüttl glaciers as well as easy climbing passages make the ascent a very special experience. At the top, a wonderful panoramic view awaits you in a lonely ambience.
From the car park you first hike to the beautifully situated Laponesalm at the end of the Gschnitztal valley. The trail then climbs up a steep step along the forest to the bottom of the Simmingalm, its high moor worth seeing and a small lake. From here it is not far to the Bremerhütte, which is still hidden from view on a rocky ridge above. However, the most strenuous part of the tour still awaits - from the Bremerhütte, the trail first winds its way up in steep serpentines to the so-called Aussichtsscharte at 2800m. From here, climbing skills and sure-footedness are required, as the route is quite exposed over rock and grassy gullies on the ridge towards the summit. Once you reach the top, a magnificent view over a sea of ice and peaks awaits you. Once you have enjoyed the great place sufficiently, you follow the trail back down to the Bremerhütte - a stop for refreshments is in order, after all, you have already climbed a good 1800 metres in altitude. If you haven't had enough yet, we recommend the descent via the Lauterersee, a crystal-clear, very cold mountain lake.
ROUTE DESCRIPTION
From the starting point, first follow the asphalted access road in a south-westerly direction into the valley. Before a bridge, a forest path turns off to the left. Here you have the option of continuing on the road or following the path to the Laponesalm. Pass the Laponesalm, the asphalted road becomes a forest road, which you follow in a constant course until you reach a forest. A little later you reach a sign - here the marked trail with the number 102 turns off to the right to the Bremerhütte. Once you have passed this hut after 3 hours of varied ascent, follow the path to the Simmingjöchl for a good 300m in the same direction. Before you have to descend a good distance on the side, turn right towards the Wetterspitze according to the sign - you can't miss the summit now. At first, you climb up in steep serpentines until you reach the viewing saddle. From here, the technically more difficult part begins, close to and along the rocky ridge.
