We have arrived in the new daily routine of long-distance hiking: packing our rucksacks, checking the weather and route, balancing our walking pace and listening to our bodies. All aspects that are very important for today's stage, as we move from the gentle alpine pastures up into high alpine terrain. There are two summits to conquer before we reach the idyllically situated Pinegg.
Difficult stage on black mountain paths. Sure-footedness, alpine experience and a head for heights required, especially for the route to the Plessenberg summit with its four rope-secured passages. A good level of fitness is required.
Starting point:Gasthof Buchacker
From Gasthof Buchacker, follow the forest path downhill to the next crossroads, then turn right and follow the path into the "Hasatal" valley. Then continue to the next crossroads, turn left uphill a little and then soon turn right onto the path towards "Nachbergalmen". Now the trail climbs a little steeper up to the Nachberg Hochleger and continues across the alpine pasture area to the "Ascherjoch" at 1,458 meters. Now comes the technically more challenging part of the tour - the path up to the "Plessenberg", a black mountain trail with four rope passages. In parts, you climb quite steeply uphill via stone steps and rope-secured sections to the summit at 1,743 meters. From here you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Kaiser Mountains, the Kitzbühel Alps, the Rofan Mountains, the Zillertal and Stubai Alps, and on a clear day you can even see as far as the Großglockner and Großvenediger. After a well-earned rest, the trail briefly descends to the Heubergsattel, where you keep right towards Kienberg. The subsequent ascent leads through mountain pine fields to the summit of the Kienberg and thus to the highest point of the tour at 1,786 meters. This completes the ascent. From now on, it's all downhill across beautiful alpine pastures, passing the Einkehralm and Heubrandalm, among others. The final spurt is via a steep climb from "Prama" down to Pinegg, where you can rest after this long and demanding stage at the Gwercherwirt inn, which is located in the middle of unspoiled nature in the Brandenberg high valley.
End point: Gasthof Gwercherwirt (Brandenberg)
