The almost 30-metre-high, shingle-clad Jakobskreuz on the Buchensteinwand in the Pillerseetal valley is a walk-in viewing tower that leads your gaze in four directions to fascinating mountain worlds.
The impressive panoramic summit of the Buchensteinwand can be reached from three sides on a leisurely hike: from Fieberbrunn via the Tennalm, from Hochfilzen via the Hoametzl Alm and from the valley station of the mountain railroad in St. Ulrich am Pillersee. From there, a family-friendly themed trail with ten inspiring stations leads to the destination. You can also take the cable car up to the top in comfort, but then you will miss out on the scenic ascent.
