Equipment

Good equipment is essential for your hike. The following items should definitely be in your rucksack: - Food and drink - Functional clothing for rain, wind and cold - A change of clothes - Sun protection - First aid kit - Mobile phone with a full battery (Euro emergency number 112) - Hiking map or GPS - Hiking poles Nevertheless, the following applies: light luggage is also easier to carry, so you should not weigh down your rucksack with unnecessary ballast. In addition, your hiking equipment should of course also be adapted to your particular hiking tour.

Description

Your ascent to the Wannenspitze begins in Grießau at the Pestkapelle chapel.
From the Pestkapelle chapel, head east along a goods road. After about 1.5 km of hiking along the gravel road, turn off to the right onto a narrow path, which is clearly visible but quite steep in places. After another half hour, you will reach the 1465 m high Lachenkopf. The rest of the route follows a ridge up the mountain, reaching the Muskogel and the Hochwaldhütte at around 1800 m. From here, you continue to the Wannenspitze, partly without a path, the first section in grassy terrain, later it becomes increasingly rocky. Once you have reached the summit, we recommend climbing the nearby Karlespitze, where you also have the option of descending into the Grießbachtal valley. However, this path is very overgrown in places and the correct route is difficult to recognize.
