Stamina-demanding tour with a steep ascent to a beautiful mountain lake in the Rofan mountains. The striking Rofan tower on Lake Zirein is an impressive eye-catcher. On the descent, the circular tour takes you past two refreshment stops, each with sweeping views over the Inn Valley.

Description

Start from the car park after the barrier at the Wimm farm in Brandenberg/Aschau. Follow the signs for the Eilalm via Anderl´s Hütte approx. 45 min (you can get something to eat and drink at Anderl's Hütte) on to the Labeggalm and to the Kreuzein Hochleger. Stay on the uphill path via the Rosswies direction Lake Zirein. When you reach the top a short steep path leads down to the lake.

To return take the uphill path via „Gappsteig“ to the fork and follow the signs for Rosskogel keeping to the right below the peak and walk downhill to the Berghaus Sonnwendjoch (1h 30 min). From this point take the path downhill to the Hochalm and the undulating track via Hörndl to Kreuzein Hochleger and back to the start. Walk back the same way!
