Mountain hikes Ischgl-Tour 12: Bergli-Larein

Ischgl / Silvretta
Difficulty ratings: medium
Route length: 13.2 km
Duration: 4:00 h

In the Paznaun Valley, we feel the proximity to Switzerland. That's why this mountain lake is a mountain lake and a particularly impressive one at that. Surrounded by the rugged beauty of the high mountain landscape, the small lake fascinates with its unique, milky turquoise color, which is created by sediments from an invisible rock glacier.

Tour character

Moderately difficult hike from Mathon via a steep path through forests and alpine meadows to the Berglisee lake. Only at the top does the beautiful nature and the view of the Paznaun Alps open up in its entirety. Alternatively, the lake can be reached via a less steep forest path. At the lake there are barbecue areas and cozy meadows for an extended picnic.

Description

Starting from the church in Mathon, follow the main road for approx. 150 m in the direction of Galtür until you reach the underpass (Gasthof Glöckner). From there, follow the signs for "Bergliweg". The Bergli with its azure blue mountain lake can be reached via the road or a steep footpath and is - quite rightly - a popular hiking destination and photo motif. The way back is via the Lareintal valley. There are plenty of photo opportunities here, such as the view of the Schnapfenspitze with the impressive Larein glacier. The Lareinalm is a mountain hut where you can sample typical Paznaun specialties.
