A varied hike from Kurzen Grund, taking in idyllic alpine pastures and ridges offering stunning views, eventually leads to the impressive summit with its magnificent panoramic views.
The starting point of this hike is the parking lot at Gasthof Wegscheid in Kurzen Grund. From there, follow the signs no. 732 in the direction of Tristkopf. Along the woodland trail you reach the alpine pasture area and branch off to the left shortly before the Neue Bamberger Hütte. Following the signposted path you reach the Streitfeldenalm, which is already at the foot of the summit. Past the alp begins the hiking trail that leads to the Nandernachjoch at 2100 meters. Along the ridge you hike up to the peak Tristkopf (2361 m) on the border with the province of Salzburg.
You get back to the starting point via the same path.
As an extension of the tour, you can also visit the Markkichl, a small chapel on the border between Tyrol and Salzburg. This adds about an hour to the walking time.
