The Via Romea Germanica is a pilgrimage route approximately 2,200 km long from Stade to Rome. The Tiroler Etappe 2 (Stage 56 of the overall route) leads from Seefeld in Tirol via Reith down into the Inntal valley and along the Inn further to Innsbruck.
The starting point is the Pfarrkirche St. Oswald in Seefeld in Tirol. The village center is left via Innsbrucker Straße heading south. At the Steinbrunnen, turn right onto Möserer Landstraße, continuing along the Wildsee, which lies on the left. A few meters past the parking lot for the Waldschwimmbad, the path turns right and follows the track around the Golfplatz. Turn right at the T-junction, left at the next T-junction, and right again at the next opportunity – the route remains above the village without leading into it. Continue on Gstoogweg until the intersection with Auland and Mühlbergweg. Follow Mühlbergweg to the right. At a fork in the path, go left down to the main road.
From there, the accompanying path (Lauserweg) continues following the main road to the right, slightly above the highway, down into the village of Leithen. There, cross the main road towards St. Magnus Kapelle (Kobesbichlweg). After crossing the railway tracks, continue right, past the Kapelle Unsere Frau, through the forest along the railway line. At a left curve of the railway, cross it to the right; immediately after, the path leads left again down towards the main road and continues along it. At a right curve of the road, take a path down to the left to Zirl, passing the Ruine Fragenstein. Upon reaching the Schlossbach, turn right and cross the main road. The path continues on Mühlgasse towards the center of Zirl. Follow Meilstraße to the left until just before crossing the Ehnbach, then turn right into Sportplatzweg. Following the path and the stream, the route reaches the Inn.
After crossing the river via the Martinsbrücke, continue left on the Flößerweg. After passing under the main road at a bridge over the Inn, the path leads to the road; turn right there and follow the long curve to a roundabout. Turn left there and continue on the path running parallel to the railway tracks, with the railway line on the right, until just before the entrance to Völs. Turn left here, cross the stream, and continue right following the Landwirtschaftsweg (Völserau) until reaching a Baumarkt. Then turn left across the path, immediately right again (Kranebitter Landesstraße) to a roundabout. Following the main road to the left (2 roundabouts), the Inn is crossed again. At the next opportunity, turn right (Hans-Flöckinger-Promenade).
Following this path – the Inn on the right, the Flugplatz on the left – the route continues into Innsbruck. At the Karwendelbrücke (pedestrian and railway bridge), the path switches to the other side of the river and follows the riverside path towards the Altstadt. At the Marktplatz, opposite the bridge, turn right into the old town to the destination: Dom St. Jakob.
