Winter in the region around Lake Achensee is a special experience. All in all it has 150 kilometres of well-maintained winter hiking trails.
The sound of snow crunching under foot. Ice crystals glistening in the sun. Total peace and quiet far from the madding crowd. A very popular route leads from the town of Pertisau into the Falzthurntal Valley at the foot of the Karwendel Mountains. Dotted along the way are cosy huts serving traditional Tirolean food.
Tip! In the winter months, rangers from the Karwendel Nature Park offer guided hikes around Lake Achensee following the tracks of animals which call this region home. Participants will have a chance to learn about survival strategies during the harsh winter months, and to a special feeding point before heading back to the start.
