Winter in the region around Lake Achensee is a special experience. All in all it has 150 kilometres of well-maintained winter hiking trails.
The sound of snow crunching under foot. Ice crystals glistening in the sun. Total peace and quiet far from the madding crowd. A very popular route leads from the town of Pertisau into the Falzthurntal Valley at the foot of the Karwendel Mountains. Dotted along the way are cosy huts serving traditional Tirolean food.
Tip! In the winter months, rangers from the Karwendel Nature Park offer guided hikes around Lake Achensee following the tracks of animals which call this region home. The walks lead past the Falkenmoosalm hut, where participants will have a chance to learn about survival strategies during the harsh winter months, and to a special feeding point before heading back to the start.
Meeting time & place: 9:00 at the Falkenmoos car park in Achenkirch (pay and display). Hikers arriving by bus should get off at the bus stop "Steinberg" and will then have to walk for around 15 minutes to get to the car park.
Dates: every Friday from 22 December 2018 until 16 March 2019
Duration: approx. 6 hours
