Have you ever seen an ibex? On this tour to the Sonnjoch, there is a particularly good chance of spotting the animals in their natural habitat.
Beautiful hike in the Karwendel, which leads from the Gramai Alm via the Gramai Hochleger to the Sonnjoch. The trail begins leisurely along the alpine meadows and then becomes increasingly steeper through alpine terrain. The summit of the Sonnjoch offers impressive views of the surrounding Karwendel mountains. The tour requires surefootedness, especially in the steeper section to the summit. Alternatively, you can also descend via the east ridge and the Bärenlahner Sattel (difficult).
From the Gramai Alm mountain hut, walk to the Gramai Hochleger (1,756 metres). Turn right and follow the trail across the pastures, then climb between mountain pines over the ridge and the steep mountan flank to the peak ridge of the Sonnjoch (2,457 metres). The return is via the same route.
By regional bus (line 8332 or 390) to the toll station at the entrance to the Karwendel valleys in Pertisau (exit bus stop: Pertisau Karwendeltäler), change to the vintage bus to the Gramai Alm (in operation from 29 May 2025). View timetable and contact.
