Description:
Early in the morning we set out to admire one of the great highlights of the entire Grenzgänger trail: the Schrecksee. However, we first have to earn this view with several ascents and descents: first, after the overnight stay in Hinterstein, we go back up to the Willersalpe and then steeply and partially somewhat demanding up to the Geißeckjoch, from where we can not only see the splendid Vilsalpsee from above but can also glimpse our stage goal, the Landsberger Hut. "Still that far!?" you will be surprised to find out! But the day is still long and the path beautiful. Below the rocky Rauhhorn we reach the next saddle, from where we can now see the Schrecksee for the first time. A few kilometers later it is hard to tear ourselves away from this fabulous view, but we must continue! Our view changes again at the next saddle. Through a gentle grassy landscape, we reach our last crossing for today, the western Lachenjoch, which finally gives us the view of our stage goal. While the feet enjoy the well-deserved break, there is time to admire from the sun terrace of the Landsberger Hut the dark north face of the Lachenspitze with its demanding via ferrata.
