Fantastic mountain tour with magnificent views - but surefootedness is absolutely necessary!
The high-altitude hike from the Padasterjochhaus to the Blaserhütte is one of the most beautiful mountain tours in temperate alpine terrain in the Alps. If you want to make the round trip from Trins (1) to the Kesselspitze and back in one day, you won't have much of it, of course. So on the first day, you ascend at your leisure through mountain forest and alpine pastureland to the cosy Padasterjochhaus. For more than 100 years the "first and oldest nature pleasure house" has stood at this wonderful place. Tireless people take the 2,634-metre high Hüttenberg Hammerspitze with them in the evening. Only those who have mountaineering skills in spite of the "way" can dare to reach the enormous church roof. The mountain day begins with an early morning ascent through Edelweißmatten to the green Foppmandl (2.412m) and a wonderful ridge walk to the Wasenwand (2.563m) towering above. Then one dives completely into the high mountains, crosses through brittle scree channels to the roof ridge of the Roter Kopf (2.526m) and climbs over steep scree flanks to the Kesselspitze (2728m). The panorama of the surrounding mountains now travels to its full extent: Tuxer and Zillertaler Alps in the east, the Stubaier Alps right in front of your nose, the Karwendel in the north and even the Dolomites far to the south. Over the Kugelwand you descend to the Kalbenjoch, with wire rope aid to the Peilspitze and into the unique flower paradise around the Blaserhütte. The descent back to Trins is only a loose run.
