With approximately 17 kilometres and 950 metres of elevation gain, it is an ideal half-day adventure for ambitious trail runners seeking a rewarding mix of physical challenge and alpine scenery.
Your gear should therefore be designed with safety, sudden weather changes, and prolonged exertion in mind. Trail running vest, water, snacks (gels, bars, dried fruit, salt tablets in hot weather, etc.), lightweight rain jacket (waterproof, windproof, packable), cap or headband, thin gloves (spring/fall), GPS watch (with GPX track), cell phone (fully charged) with offline map, mini first-aid kit, emergency blanket, headlamp, trail running poles, thin insulated jacket, arm warmers.
The route starts in Landeck and gradually climbs towards Hochgallmigg on a network of scenic mountain and forest trails. Within the first few kilometres, you quickly gain elevation and leave the Inn Valley behind.
The ascent follows mostly runnable forest and mountain paths, making it easy to find a steady climbing rhythm. Along the way, frequent openings in the forest reveal stunning views of Landeck, the surrounding peaks, and the Upper Inn Valley. The combination of shaded woodland sections and sunny viewpoints keeps the route varied and engaging throughout.
As you continue climbing, the landscape becomes more open, offering spectacular views across the valley. The area around Hochgallmigg is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the route. Perched high above the Inn Valley, this traditional mountain village provides an authentic glimpse into Tyrolean alpine life and rewards runners with breathtaking scenery.
After reaching the highest point of the run at around 1,230 metres, the route follows a scenic ridgeline and rolling mountain trails. Short climbs alternate with runnable sections, making this an ideal stretch to settle into a comfortable pace while enjoying the panoramic surroundings.
The trail then begins its descent towards Fliess, where runners are treated to flowing singletracks and enjoyable downhill sections. The route winds through forests, alpine meadows, and scenic hillsides, providing a perfect balance between technical interest and running flow.
Passing through the historic village of Fliess, the trail eventually returns towards Landeck. The final kilometres are fast and enjoyable, offering a rewarding finish to a diverse and scenic trail running adventure.
