Lechweg Stage 5 | Elbigenalp - Stanzach
From the centre of Elbigenalp it goes back to the Lech River. The Lechweg now ambles along the river. Shortly before reaching Koeglen you reach a small biotope. At Koeglen you cross the Lechtal country road and walk on forest and wooded paths to a leg with a wonderful panoramic view. At the altitude of Griessau you again cross the road and walk on a farm lane through a small lowland forest and thereafter along the Lech River to the outdoor swimming pool in Haeselgehr. A little artifical creek with sulferous water runs through the facility. From Haeselgehr, the Lechweg leads on to the »Weiler Luxnach«. Here you will find the Doser waterfall. Its water comes from a grotto and had previously driven a mill. The waterfall dries up on St. Martin’s Day (November 11th) and springs back on St. George’s Day (April 23rd). According to legend, a dragon is responsible for this – it lets the stream flow and dissapear at the right times. Your trek takes you to the Burweg and then on to the panorama trail towards Elmen. A break from rambling is offered in »Klimm«, at the rest stop »Zur Gemuetlichkeit« (is not located on Lechweg). To get to the centre of Elmen, you must leave the Lechweg. The 15th century parish church in Elmen is worth a visit. Like in Elbigenalp, there is also a »dance of death« by Johann Anton Falger right here in the cemetery chapel. From the centre of Elmen you go back to »Klimm« and from there back up to the Lechweg. On the trail through the Lech Valley, you for the first time run into a beech forest shortly before reaching Vorderhornbach. Before you hike down to the small hamlet of Martinau, a short detour to the old ski lift can be taken. From here you have a wonderful panoramic view of Vorderhornbach and the Lech Valley. From Martinau, follow the »Krackweg« to Vorderhornbach. There you can enjoy the natural adventure pool Badino. Here you can relax in natural, chlorine-free water. A rock to jump from, a creek to play in, and a Tarzan vine to swing from, all provide a special bathing experience. You pass Vorderhornbach and walk on a farm lane to the Lech bridge. Here you cross the river and walk along the embankment to Stanzach.
