Lechweg Stage 6 | Stanzach - Wängle
Welcome to the »wild river«. The Lechweg now leads you along the gravel banks through the characteristic wild river landscape. Take the time to build stone sculptures, have a refreshment on one of the driftwood logs, or stop for a snack at a designated picnic area. Shortly before Forchach, a forest road forks off to a refreshment station. The Lechweg leads along the left-hand side along to the Forchach hanging bridge. The walking trail does not lead over the bridge, yet a trip across it is worth it. You have a spectacular view onto the wild Lech River from this 75 metre-long swing bridge, erected in 1906. Continuing along the riverbank you reach the Johannes Bridge. The first bridge here was built in the mid-19th century. Those who crossed then had to pay a toll. From the center of the Weissenbach, the Lechweg leads back to the river and to the outlet of the Rotlech ravine. From here it is on to Rieden, where Lake Rieden poses an idyllic hideaway. Hidden in the forest, it offers some rare natural treasures. From Ehenbichl you walk over the bridge to Hoefen, located at the foot of the Hahnenkamm Mountain. From here, the Reutte cable car takes you up to the mountains. On the path between Hoefen and Waengle there is a plant garden in a small wood.
