Description
Stroll along this hiking trail around the largest excavated earth dump of the Brenner base tunnel. Observe and discover the natural beauty of the Padaster valley, as well as the construction work and material transport on the valley floor. Along the way, viewing platforms offer unique views of the landfill. Theme boards provide information on the construction of the 64-kilometre-long railway tunnel.
DIRECTIONS
From the parking lot you walk back along the road until you reach the snack station Häuslerhof. Here a goods road branches off to the north. Follow the freight road and later the hiking trail until you reach a water tank with a fence gate. Follow the wide water pipe path on the sunny side (south facing) to the tunnel portal. Cross the illuminated water gallery. At the exit portal of the tunnel, cross the Padasterbach stream and return to the valley entrance on the other side of the valley along the forest path and the newly laid out hiking trail with built-in stairs (red). Finally you come to the car park in front of the Wendelinkapelle.
