Pater Maurus Carnot Weg
This themed trail begins at the "Samnaun-Laret, Dorf" bus stop, near the birthplace of Father Maurus Carnot. The route first takes you down a steep footpath to the Trua Bridge, then follows the Schergenbach to the Chasa Retica Museum in Samnaun-Plan. The trail from the Trua Bridge to Plan is ideal for hiking and strolling in both summer and winter. A total of 17 informative panels illustrate the life of this prominent figure from Samnaun. The panels are attached to light posts, allowing visitors to walk this memorial trail even in the evening.
Be sure to visit the Chasa Retica Museum. A permanent exhibit on the life and works of this poet-monk has been set up in the foundation rooms of the Pater Maurus Carnot Foundation. The museum is located in Samnaun-Plan. Visits to the Valley Museum are only available as part of a guided tour, offered weekly during both the winter and summer seasons.
