Beautiful hike through forests and alpine pastures past the Kalten Herberge to the Rauhen Kopf and back over the Zirmaalm, with views of the mighty Olperermassiv. Ideal for families and connoisseurs.
From the car park at the end of the wooden settlement, the path first leads along a forest road to the small church "Kalte Herberge", which is situated in the forest. From here, a narrow path leads first through light woods and later through alpine meadows towards the summit. The summit itself surprises with a great view over the Schmirn- and Wildlahnertal as well as the striking massif of the Tuxer Hauptkamm. The descent then follows a wide arc relatively flat over the alpine meadows of the Zirmaalm back to the starting point.
ROUTE DESCRIPTION
From the car park at the end of the woodland settlement, you first follow the wide forest path no. 69 to the Kalten Herberge (Cold Hostel) in a westerly direction until you reach a clearing in the forest - this is also where you will see the small pilgrimage church for the first time. After a short detour to this sacred gem and a refreshing drink from the fountain in front of it, you continue along the forest path with the no. 71 leading west - here a signpost also gives information about the right choice. After a few hairpin bends at the end of the forest path, the narrow path begins, which winds upwards through beautiful, light woods, well marked. After some time you will reach extensive alpine meadows, and the summit cross will not be late in sight. A last crisp ascent still has to be mastered, then it is done and you suddenly stand on the broad summit head. The extensive space conditions invite to a relaxed snack and to admire the surroundings. The descent continues in a southerly direction first along a wide ridge, then briefly over a steep step down to the wide valley floor of the Zirmaalm. Here the path then leads in a wide arc from ground to ground in steps down to a first forest path. This is crossed, and a short time later the path enters the forest again. After a few hairpin bends in the forest you reach another forest path at a crossroads. Here you turn right and follow the forest path nr. 70 in western direction until you reach a small valley with a watercourse. A small mountain path turns left here, which you follow and which leads back to the car park and thus to the starting point.

A visit to the small pilgrimage church "Kalte Herberge", which is located directly on the path, is almost a "must".
