Arrival by public transport
Take the regional bus to Maurach (line 8332, 4080 or 390) and get off at the "Maurach a. A. Rofan Seilbahn" stop.
Short tour up to the Rotspitz (2,067 metres) in 1.5 hours, with 370 metres of elevation gain and magnificent views - perfect for tranquil mornings or late afternoons.
From the top station of the Rofan cable car (1,840 metres), the trail leads toward the Dalfaz Alm. About halfway along, a signposted path branches off, leading in a direct and steep line up to the Rotspitz through mountain pine fields. The ascent takes about one hour. Shortly before the summit, leave the trail that continues left over the Dalfaz ridge and instead take the path on the right to the Rotspitz (2,067 metres). At the top, enjoy stunning views of Lake Achensee and the Rofan and Karwendel mountains. The return is via the same route.
