A walk against a backdrop of towering mountains.
A walk through the Enger Grund offers a thoroughly inspiring yet family-friendly mountain experience. The path winds its way along the crystal-clear stream, mostly on level ground rather than uphill, into a vast natural amphitheatre. In the green basin beneath the thousand-metre-high rock faces between the Spritzkar and Dreizinkenspitze peaks, a longer break to take in the views and enjoy the surroundings is a must. Young hikers will also find plenty to enjoy: the head of the valley, with its babbling spring streams and gently sloping flower-filled meadows, is a perfect adventure playground.
By car:
• Take the A12 motorway exit for Achensee, then follow the Achensee B181 road to the Achen Pass border
• Cross the border into Bavaria (307) towards Sylvensteinsee, then turn left towards Vorderriss
• Turn left towards Hinterriss, then take the toll road to car park P10
