Scenic hike in the footsteps of the emperor: follow the award-winning Kaisersteig trail to the Köglalm, with a detour to the Kaiser-Maximilian-Rast for panoramic views and a tribute to Emperor Maximilian I.
From the Fischerwirt, follow the path to the right, which leads through an underpass and onto the marked trail towards the Köglalm. After about 45 minutes of walking, you will reach the junction for the Kaiser-Maximilian-Rast (1,250 metres). A short, 15-minute detour brings you to the impressive Kaiser-Maximilian-Rast viewing platform. Featuring a larger-than-life imperial throne, the platform commemorates Emperor Maximilian I, who is regarded as one of Lake Achensee’s earliest visitors thanks to his passion for hunting and fishing in the region. From here, you can enjoy spectacular views of the lake and the village of Achenkirch. After returning to the main trail, continue towards the Köglalm (1,431 metres). Once you have passed the mountain hut, follow the first signpost to Achenseehof, which leads back down into the valley towards the Adventure Park/Achenseehof. From there, you can either take the regional bus or walk along the shores of Lake Achensee back to your starting point.
The Achensee region carries the Tirolean seal of quality for the high standard of its hiking paths. The "Kaisersteig" has been named "Tirolean mountain trail of distinction" for its scenic beauty, stunning views and unique flora.
Take the regional bus (line 4080 or 390) to Achenkirch and get off at the "Achenkirch Fischerwirt" stop.
