Circular hike around Lake Achensee from Maurach. 22.2 kilometres, over 5 hours walking time. Varied route with scenic trail via the Gaisalm on the western shore.
From the Atoll Achensee, the trail follows the eastern shore towards Buchau. The lakeside path continues from there, passing Achensee Camping Schwarzenau and the Achenseehof pier to the Scholastika pier in Achenkirch. From Achenkirch, the trail heads towards Alpen Caravan Park Achensee and then follows the “Gaisalm” (Mariensteig) signs, turning left to Seewinkel. It then continues towards the Gaisalm. The narrow Mariensteig trail runs above the lake, climbing continuously before finally descending in steep steps to the Gaisalm (shipping pier). Along this section, three small viewing platforms offer ideal spots for a short break, inviting you to enjoy the impressive lake views. The trail then continues on narrow rocky paths to Pertisau. It leads along the lake promenade, past the Seehotel St. Hubertus to Seespitz, and then on towards Maurach and back to Atoll Achensee.
Attention: The trail from Achenkirch via the Gaisalm to Pertisau has some narrow sections which require sure-footedness and a head for heights!
Take the regional bus (line 4080 or 390) to Maurach to the Atoll Achensee at the lakeshore in Buchau and get off at the "Maurach a. A. Atoll Achensee" stop.
