Description

Stage 2 of the Karwendel Circuit starts at the Gramai Alm (1,267m) and leads up to the Gramai Hochleger (1,756m). The trail then branches right, crossing alpine pastures and passing through dwarf pine terrain. The ascent becomes steeper and follows a ridge to the summit ridge of the Sonnjoch (2,457m), the highest peak in the Achensee region. The descent follows the same route, without passing directly via the Gramai Hochleger. The route then continues over the Gramai Saddle and the Gramaijoch, further across the Hahnkampl (2,082m) and the western and eastern Lamsenjoch to the Lamsenjochhütte (1,953m, overnight stay).

As an alternative, after reaching the summit of the Sonnjoch, it is also possible to return to the Gramai Alm or to Pertisau by following the ascent route back down.
