On the Trail of the Miners – Guided Hike Through History
festes Schuhwerk
Join our guided hike along the Kupfererzweg (Copper Ore Trail) up to the historic Berghaus/Knappenhaus – a place where miners once toiled and life in the mountains pulsed with activity.
Along the way, you’ll uncover traces of mining dating back to the Middle Ages: ancient waste heaps, mysterious tunnel entrances, and an abandoned open-pit mine. At the Kramstollen, you'll gain exciting insights into early ore extraction, while standing before the remains of the Georgi-Unterbau facility, imagining the immense effort of the miners.
Another highlight: the archaeological finds at Kropfsberg Castle, offering a fascinating glimpse into the economy and daily life of past centuries. From there, the route continues to Brixlegg, where you can relax and enjoy the end of your hike. For those eager to dive even deeper into mining history, a visit to the Tyrolean Mining and Smelting Museum is the perfect way to round off this journey through time.
Join us and feel the spirit of the past – a hike full of discoveries and breathtaking nature awaits you!
