A shorter variant of stage 2, but also gigantic views of the Wilder Kaiser and rustic huts in the rich landscape.
If you prefer a faster hike or want to conserve energy, choose the five-kilometer shorter and four-hour quicker option for stage 2. A trail leads to the Vorderen Ranggenalm (Front Ranggenalm). Here, you'll be rewarded with an impressive view of the towers and walls of the Wilder Kaiser mountain range. If you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of chamois among the rocks. Summit names like Totenkirchl (Little Church of the Dead), Predigtstuhl (Pulpit Rock), and Fleischbank (Meat Bench) hint at sinister tales and stir the imagination of hikers. If the herdsman at the Vorderen Ranggenalm has time, you can quench your thirst before continuing on to the Hinteren Ranggenalm (Back Ranggenalm). Your next refreshment stop is the Griesner Alm, which you can reach via a pretty, narrow forest path. As with the first option, the Kaiserbach stream will guide you back to the Fischbachalm.
