Description

The almost level forest area west of Niederthai is called Tauferberg. Start your hike at the Lehen car park in Niederthai. After about 50 meters you turn left into the forest, follow the broad forest trail until you reach a fork-off. Wiesle is on the left, Wolfsegg is on the right. Keep to the right and proceed on the forest trail. Later the trail forks into a much narrower path called "Tauferbergrunde".  Always follow the trail signs towards Hoher Stein. On your way uphill you leave behind a climbing area where you can watch - with a bit of luck - some skilled rock climbers. On top you indulge in the marvelous vistas of Längenfeld and its wide open basin. Return to Niederthai on the same route, by walking further on to the shorter Tauferberg loop trail and Mauslesattel.
