GRIES PARKING LOT -> towards Amberger Hut -> Sulztalalm -> AMBERGER HUT The Sulztalalm is closed in summer 2025 due to renovation work.
Moderate mountain trail; suitable for sure-footed and experienced mountain hikers; good physical condition, mountain experience, and mountain equipment (see under equipment) are necessary. Please observe the current weather report.
Appropriate equipment such as breathable and weather-appropriate outdoor clothing is required for all hikes and routes. Carrying a first aid kit, a mobile phone, and possibly a hiking map, as well as sufficient provisions for hikes without a place to stop, is necessary.
The starting point is the parking lot at the outskirts of Gries. From here, follow a gently ascending forest road in the direction of Sulztalalm. Passing the Vögelas bridge, you soon reach the junction where you follow the forest road to the Sulztalalm. Once there, continue hiking towards the Amberger Hut. The last 20 minutes of the route are steeper, but shortly afterward you reach the Amberger Hut. Just below the hut is a small lake with a sulfur spring.
Public transportation
Travel comfortably and safely by train. The final stop or exit point is the ÖTZTAL station. Then you can travel conveniently and quickly with public bus services or local taxi companies through the entire valley to your desired destination.
