Difficulty ratings: medium

This magnificent mountain panorama will leave you open-mouthed with amazement. That's good! The landlord of the Erlanger Hütte is a brilliant chef with many years of experience in top gastronomy!

Tour character

A distant destination with great appeal: the Erlanger Hütte sits enthroned on a panoramic rocky plateau below the Wildgrat ridge on the romantic Wettersee lake. The approach from Ötztal, Pitztal or Oberinntal requires surefootedness and takes between 4.5 and 6 hours, but the mountain hike can be shortened by taking an alpine cab. The final highlight of the tour: an invigorating meal prepared by a top chef!

Description

The hike to the Erlanger Hut begins at the Mure parking lot in the center of Umhausen. From there, you first pass through the Neudorf district to the Fundus Bridge. After crossing the bridge, follow the wide forest road to the junction of the Fundus Valley (left) and Leier Valley (right). Continue to the right, and after about 2.5 hours of walking, you will reach the Vorderes Leierstal Alpine pasture (not serviced). From there, continue along the road for about 700 meters before turning left onto a hiking trail. This trail leads over somewhat steeper terrain up to the Erlanger Hut. Once at the top, you are rewarded with a breathtaking view. Highly recommended is also the short walk to the deep, dark “Wettersee,” which is located just behind the Erlanger Hut.
