Description

Looking for an easy walk with minimal effort and plenty of scenic highlights? The Alter Koglerweg is a pleasant downhill hike that combines nature, panoramic views and local charm.

Your tour begins with a ride on the Reitherkogelbahn. At the mountain station, around 1,200 metres above sea level, breathtaking views of the Alpbachtal Valley and the surrounding Tyrolean mountains await. For guests staying in the region, rides on the Reitherkogelbahn are included with the Alpbachtal Card.

From the top, the trail leads gently downhill through peaceful woodland. Enjoy the fresh mountain air and the tranquillity of nature as you make your way towards the valley. Along the route, you will pass the Rosary Chapel, a special place of reflection that is well known for its unusual rosary vending machine.

The trail continues to the Almstüberl Gschwendt, a welcoming mountain inn and the perfect spot for a break and refreshments. From there, follow the Alter Koglerweg further downhill to Reith im Alpbachtal. Before reaching the end of the tour, the Café Heisn near the valley station offers another opportunity to relax and enjoy local treats.

With a walking time of around 1.5 hours and only downhill elevation change, this hike is ideal for families, leisure walkers and anyone who would like to experience the beauty of the Tyrolean mountains at a relaxed pace.
