The first day of the 3-day family route takes you from the beautiful village of Alpbach to the rustic Holzalm. On the way there, there is plenty to discover for children...
Please remember to take enough water with you. Especially children need a lot of fluids while hiking!
Sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing
Day 1: Alpbach - Steinweg - Hösljoch - Holzalm ---> approx. 3 - 4 h.
The family route starts in the charming village of Alpbach, past beautifully vibrant geraniums and the traditional wooden houses. After a few minutes of walking, you leave the village center of Alpbach behind and walk through lush green mountain meadows. Then it goes further upwards through the cool forest. Over the scenic Steinweg with viewing platform, you walk on to the Hösljoch. On the viewing platform, you are rewarded with a wide view over the Alpbachtal. At the "Höslkapelle" and the "Hösllacke" you can comfortably take a break and dangle your feet in the water.
All clear for treasure hunters!Then continue over the Kupfersteig* towards Holzalm, past the gravel channels with ore rock. More and more often, turquoise shines between the gray stones. Already thousands of years ago, copper ores were mined around the Gratlspitze, and until today you can find malachite, azurite, and other minerals. A paradise for small and large stone collectors! When the backpack is filled with treasure, continue walking to the destination of this stage, the rustic Holzalm. The hut lives up to its name, it is completely built of wood. Here pure alpine idyll prevails. At Holzalm, a cozy stopover with overnight stay awaits you.
