5-day route in the Ötztal over 4 peaks following the trail of water
Suitable for hikers who are not afraid of heights and sure-footed. Good physical condition, some alpine experience, and mountain equipment recommended. Please take note of the current weather report.
Appropriate equipment for alpine mountain hikes is a matter of course for all routes in the Alps. Secure hiking boots or mountain boots, breathable outdoor pants, a rain jacket, as well as a backpack with provisions, drinks, and a first aid kit always belong to the standard equipment for tours in the Alps. Sunglasses, sunscreen, headwear such as a bandana or hiking hat are also highly recommended, as well as a warm second jacket, trekking poles if desired, and possibly gloves. The choice of clothing should of course always be adapted to the current weather.
Joint departure to 2 peaks, first we reach the Rosskopf at 2,399 m before following the path to the Wetterkreuz at 2,591 m. Short summit break and descent through the beautiful "Wörgetal" along the "Knappenweg" on historic traces of medieval mining to Kühtai. There we circle the Längental reservoir and learn some things about the use of hydropower in Tyrol before reaching the stage destination, the Dortmunder Hut in Kühtai (1,950 m).
