Challenging but definitely rewarding circular route in the Rofan Mountains

This demanding mountain route from Münster leads you through the breathtaking landscape of the Rofan Mountains and offers spectacular views as well as the opportunity to rest at cosy alpine huts.
The route starts in Münster and initially climbs steeply via the Steinapfelweg through dense forests and forest paths. Your stamina will be tested right at the beginning, but the anticipation of what lies ahead will drive you on.
After about three hours and around 1,000 m of ascent, you reach the Bayreuther Hut, where you can take a well-deserved break. Enjoy a traditional Tyrolean snack and refresh yourself with a cool drink while letting your gaze wander over the surrounding peaks.
Refreshed, continue your hike by walking about 1 hour further without notable altitude gain to the Sonnwendbühelalm. The path is beautiful and the view and tranquility of the mountain landscape reward your efforts. At the Sonnwendbühelalm (unstaffed), you can take another break. The fresh mountain air will replenish your energy reserves before you make your way back.
The return route takes you back to Münster via a different path, where you can once again enjoy great views and unspoiled nature.
