Equipment

Medium difficulty mountain path; suitable for sure-footed and experienced mountain hikers.

Appropriate equipment such as breathable and weather-adapted outdoor clothing, ankle-high hiking boots, wind, rain, and sun protection, a hat, and possibly gloves are required for all hikes and routes. Carrying a first aid kit, a mobile phone, and possibly a hiking map, as well as sufficient provisions for hikes without dining options, is necessary.

Description

Starting at the Sahne Stüberl, the path leads past the Timmelsbach and continues gently ascending over Windegg to the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road. Crossing this, continue on a trail towards Hochgurgl and past the Top Mountain Crosspoint. Afterwards, the path descends into the Königstal and continues to Obergurgl.

  • Arrival by public transport

    Travel comfortably and safely by train to the Ötztal train station. The final stop or exit point is the ÖTZTAL station. Afterwards, travel conveniently and quickly by public bus or local taxi companies through the entire valley to your desired destination.   • Parking

    In Gurgl, the following parking options are available:  

    • Parking garage Dorfzentrum Obergurgl (down to the right in front of the church), paid | € 2.00 per hour
    • Parking garage Ortseingang – valley station Festkoglbahn, paid | € 6.00 per day
    • Parking lot Hochgurglbahn valley station, free – no overnight parking
    • Parking lot Top Mountain Crosspoint, free
    • Parking lot Hochgurgl, free (very small parking lot)
