Multi-day hikes 3-day hut tour Wilder Kaiser

Description

On this challengingthree-day hut tour, you will discover the most beautiful places on the south side of the Wilder Kaiser, including a summit victory.

Stage 1:
Start at the hiking starting point in Going, Hüttling (820 m). The forest path and later path 818 leads you to the natural spectacle of the Schleier waterfall. The rock dome with its waterfall invites you to take a deep breath and catch your breath. Continue along the rock faces to the Stiegenbach waterfall. At the next crossroads, continue along path 817 towards the Wilder Kaiser. After a short rocky passage, you cross the Stiegenbach stream and hike across alpine meadows to the next junction. Here you follow path 827 to the Obere Regalm (1,313 m).
Continue on trail 827 across alpine meadows uphill to the Brennenden Palven (also known as Baumgartenköpfl, 1,568 m). Fantastic panoramic views to the north and south reward the ascent. This is also the location of the famous mountaineer's grave, where the "Koasamuch" found his final resting place.
Trail 824 now leads westwards down the valley to the Gaudeamushütte (1,263 m), with magnificent views of the Ellmauer Tor. Bring the rest of the day to a cosy close with culinary delicacies.


Stage 2:
From the Gaudeamushütte hut, take trail 812/813 in the direction of "Ellmauer Tor". The trail winds its way through mountain pines to the "Jubiläumssteig" junction. Continue right here on path 812 over the scree field (Kübelkar). After a rocky steep step (partly secured with steel ropes) you reach the Ellmauer Tor, 1,980 m, via further scree fields and a final rock step.
A difficult mountain trail leads to the summit of the Hintere Goinger Halt, initially over steep, rocky terrain interspersed with grass and scree and later rocky passages (a short section secured with an iron chain) to the final upswing, where an easy climb takes you to the summit (2,192 m). Enjoy the fantastic panoramic view. Return along the same route to the junction of the Jubiläumssteig trail.
The scenically magnificent Jubiläumssteig is a very exposed, difficult mountain trail - mostly, but not continuously, secured with steel ropes and some step aids/ladders.
From the exit, it is not far to the stage finish, the Gruttenhütte (1,620 m) with a beautiful sun terrace and fantastic views.

Requirements: Alpine experience, good physical condition, surefootedness and a head for heights! Helmet (Danger of falling rocks!)
Recommendation: climbing harness & via ferrata set if necessary
(Snow fields can often be expected well into the summer).

Stage 3:
From the Gruttenhütte hut, head west on road 14a and after approx. 15 minutes take a few steps onto the Wilder-Kaiser-Steig (WKS) 823. Below the Kaiser peaks Treffauer and Tuxeck, you hike over the Lenggries (one of the largest gravel cirques on the Wilder Kaiser), through fragrant mountain pines and mountain forests with fantastic views. The wild and romantic Kaiser-Hochalm is not open to the public but makes a wonderful photo stop.
Continue along the WKS 821/823 to the Steiner-Hochalm (1,257 m). During a cosy break, the hut hosts Maridi and Peter serve drinks (no food!), often accompanied by spontaneous harp playing and singing.
Continue downhill via the Steiner-Niederalm to the Hinterschießling Alm (1,020 m). Enjoy the peace and quiet here at the foot of the Scheffauer and let the Steiner family spoil you with specialities from the farm's own Angus cattle. Head back down into the valley to Scheffau through the cool Rehbachklamm gorge.
