On this 308-kilometre pilgrimage, you can explore the entire Kufsteinerland region. The focus is on places of pilgrimage and pilgrimage churches that invite you to linger and explore.
Easy route on wide forest paths, which only requires stamina, but otherwise does not present any technical difficulties.
You start at the Marienbrunnen fountain in Kufstein, which is famous for its golden Marien column, among other things. In total, the circular route covers around 46 stages. On these stages, you pass several well-known pilgrimage and parish churches that are well worth seeing. After around 33 kilometers, the Maria Klobenstein church stretches out of the middle of the mountain. The pilgrimage church, built in 1732/33, is reached via steps - past rocks. The route continues over several stages to the pilgrimage site of Maria Eck. You reach this idyllic place around 32 kilometers after the last pilgrimage church. It consists of a church, a monastery and an inn. This is where the EUREGIO-Marien-Weg M2 and M3 separate. After leaving this beautiful place behind you, you reach Maria Kirchental after another 53 kilometers. This village is characterized by the church, also known as the "Pinzgau Cathedral", and the adjacent sacristan's house. A few more stages follow until the pilgrimage site of Mariastein greets you at the 207-kilometre mark. The impressive Mariensteinkirche church towers high up on a hill, and just over 21 kilometers further on is the Mariathal pilgrimage basilica in Kramsach on a mountain river. This church is also a well-known and popular excursion destination. It is the last pilgrimage church on the circular hike. The last place of pilgrimage is Maria Himmelfahrt in Birkenstein, which celebrated its 300th anniversary in 2010. After these many new impressions and beautiful places, you return to the starting point of the circular hike.
