Appropriate equipment such as breathable, weather-appropriate outdoor clothing, ankle-high hiking boots, wind, rain and sun protection, a hat, and possibly gloves are required for all hikes and routes. It is necessary to carry a first aid kit, a mobile phone, and possibly a hiking map, as well as sufficient provisions for hikes without opportunities to stop for food.
The Vordere Tumpenalm is located at an altitude of 1,831 meters, surrounded by lush green meadows and in the midst of the Ötztal mountain world. From the parking lot of the elementary school in Tumpen, follow the street towards "Grube" - then turn left onto a forest road going up past the Tumpen waterfall. At the last junction, turn left towards "Vordere Tumpenalm" and "Gehsteigalm." Follow the forest road to the alpine pasture. If you go right at the junction, you will reach the Armelen hut. For the return journey, take the same route or as an alternative, you can hike further to the Armelen hut and possibly undertake a summit tour to the "Erster Karkopf."
Travel comfortably and securely by train to the Ötztal train station. The final stop or exit point is the ÖTZTAL station. Afterwards, you can conveniently and quickly reach your destination throughout the valley with public transport or local taxi companies!
