Mountain hikes Rote Spitze 2,956 m

Innervillgraten / Villgraten Mountains
Difficulty ratings: medium
Route length: 10.2 km
Duration: 5:30 h

We can't say how many red peaks there are in the Alps. But we are sure that the most beautiful one is probably in East Tyrol.

Tour character

Steep climb across alpine meadows to the ridge. From there over boulders to the partially exposed ridge, which leads into a saddle secured by wire ropes in places. An easy scramble finally leads to the summit. This alpine mountain tour requires surefootedness and a head for heights.

Description

Get from Unterstalleralm to Oberstalleralm directly via route 16 to the Rote Spitze. From the Alpine inn there is a brief section through the forest initially, which later then rises steeply across Alpine pastures. Upon reaching the ridge, the path branches off to the east and gets to the ridge via boulders. Via this route it is somewhat exposed in a wind gap, however this is secured with wire cables. From there it is an easy climb up to the summit
