Description

At the western end of Virgen, a popular and newly designed Way of the Cross leads to the "Maria Schnee" pilgrimage church.

Local artists have worked together to create 15 expressive stations.
The Way of the Cross consists of 14 individual stations, supplemented by the "Resurrection", a 15th station in front of the pilgrimage church. Serpentine and bronze were used as base materials, combining elegance and monumentality. However, the sculptures can also be interpreted as a rock in the surf. The individual Stations of the Cross scenes are depicted in bronze reliefs that are applied directly to the green serpentine. The challenge with the reliefs was to find the right balance between tradition and modernity. Meditation texts on the serpentine blocks - written by former bishop Reinhold Stecher - are intended to invite pilgrims to linger and pause for a moment.
