The last stage is about to begin. We head south, wave briefly to Carinthia, pay a short visit to the stately Glorer Hütte and soon head downhill towards the Lucknerhaus. Is it really over already? First we arrive, recapitulate, be proud and enjoy. The view, the tour, the Tyrolean delicacies.
Difficult stage on black mountain paths. Sure-footedness, a head for heights and alpine skills required for the Pfortscharte. It forms an exposed passage with scree, scree steps and steep sections, some of which have to be overcome with the help of firmly anchored ropes. Beware of the risk of lightning. Good physical condition required.
Route description: From the Stüdlhütte on the Fanotscharte (2,802 meters), climb uphill in a northerly direction for five minutes, then orientate yourself to the east at the signpost Pfortscharte, Salmhütte, Glorer Hütte, via trail AV 713 in a southeasterly direction. This runs directly below the moraine fields of the Ködnitzkees and joins the Johann-Stüdl-Weg (AV 702 B) far above the so-called Viehböden. The initially well-maintained path now leads up through meadow slopes, later secured by ropes again. Now enter the scree cirque and continue upwards through the cirque. At a fork in the path in the cirque, do not turn right into the rocks, but continue upwards through the cirque towards the Salmhütte. In this passage, the trail leads in short serpentines through scree and rubble, but with good ground. The ascent to the Pfortscharte is steep.
On the other side, descend a short distance in similar terrain, orienting yourself towards the "Glorer Hütte" at the fork in the trail. From here, head south along the Luckner Weg, on green, undulating mountain meadows past the Oberer Glatzsee lake and after a while you will reach the Glorer Hütte on the Berger Törl (2,651 meters). In the wide mountain valley, which is characterized by meadow slopes, there are frontal moraines of former glacial activity, which extend into the hollow with the Glatzbach stream. After the Glorer Hütte, the trail runs parallel to the material cable car on a partly earthy path and over a few small streams further down into the valley between mountain meadows, where you should keep to the path to protect nature. Finally, the trail joins a wide path that leads to the Lucknerhaus. The destination and end of the Adlerweg Osttirol! Or the beautiful start if you tackle it from this side.
